Maria Cerna, Qualified Maternity Nurse
I am Maria Cerna, a childcare worker with 30 years of international experience in the homes of Italians and families across the world. Mine is a true calling: since I was a little girl I loved taking care of children and this passion led me to specialized studies that allowed me to look after them in the best possible way.
In my country, Peru, I attended linguistic high school and immediately after went on to nursing school. In 1986 I moved to Europe and worked as an assistant and housekeeper for Italian and French families.
The title “nurse” was not enough for me, because I wanted to fulfill my dream of working only with children. In 1994 I went to London and specialized as a Maternity Nurse by completing the program at Kensington and Chelsea College. It’s there that I studied and deepened the fundamental subjects of my work such as pedagogy, child psychology, nutritional sciences, pediatric intervention and unblocking techniques.
During my career, I have worked in several European countries: Italy, England, France, Switzerland and Spain. I often accompanied families on their travels to various parts of the world, such as the United States and Latin America. In recent years I have come into contact with completely different cultures and lifestyles. My numerous work experiences have made me grow professionally and have strengthened my multicultural and international education. Today, in addition to providing my advice to families who need it, I manage a team of nannies and nurses selected by me with extreme care, who carry out this work with professionalism and passion.
